How we handle your data

What this site collects, why, and the choices you have. Effective 20 August 2026.

who we are

This website is operated by Semantic Gate Limited, a company incorporated in Hong Kong (Business Registration Number 78787630), registered office: Unit 2A, 17/F, Glenealy Tower, No. 1 Glenealy, Central, Hong Kong.

Questions about this notice, and requests to access or correct your personal data, go to privacy@semanticgate.dev, addressed to the Data Protection Officer at the registered office above.

the contact form

The form asks for your name, your email address, and your message. We use them for exactly one purpose: reading your enquiry and replying to it. We never add you to a mailing list, and we never use what you send for marketing without asking you separately first.

Supplying your details is voluntary. Without an email address we cannot reply — that is the only consequence of leaving anything out.

Submissions travel through Cloudflare, the infrastructure provider that hosts this site, screens submissions for abuse (Turnstile), and delivers your message to our mailbox. We do not disclose what you send to anyone else.

Your message is kept as ordinary business correspondence for as long as your enquiry needs. A technical fingerprint of the submission — not its content — is kept for five minutes to prevent duplicate sends.

technical data

Like virtually every website, our infrastructure (Cloudflare) automatically logs standard connection data — IP address, browser user agent, request timing — for a limited period, for security and reliability. We do not use it to build a profile of you.

analytics

Our analytics are first-party and cookieless: aggregate statistics about which pages are visited, never a profile of who you are. The only thing stored on your device is a random identifier in sessionStorage that disappears when you close the tab and is never linked across visits or devices.

After a successful contact-form submission we record a single conversion event keyed by a one-way hash of the submission. It contains no identity and cannot be traced back to you.

cookies

This site sets one cookie: your language preference. There are no tracking cookies and no third-party cookies — which is why there is no cookie banner: there is nothing to ask consent for.

where your data goes

We are based in Hong Kong, so anything you send us is received and read in Hong Kong. Cloudflare operates a global network and processes traffic in the region closest to you. We keep what the form collects deliberately minimal.

your rights

Under Hong Kong's Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance you have the right to request access to, and correction of, personal data we hold about you. Send requests to the contact in the first section; we do not charge for straightforward requests.

If you are in the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland, you additionally have the rights those laws grant — including erasure, restriction, and objection. Write to the same address and we will honour them.

changes

This notice is effective 20 August 2026. If our practices change, the updated notice appears here with a new effective date.
